Pilates-Based Physical Therapy (PBPT)
Pilates-Based Physical Therapy (PBPT) has proven to be an effective modern therapy method. Through the use of a Reformer, patients are able to work in a gravity eliminated position – allowing them to go through their full range-of-motion with less stress on the joints. The pulley system found on the Reformer allows a smooth glide and provides assistance to a variety of exercises. Interchangeable resistance springs help build muscle and allow those with weight bearing limitations to perform functional movements earlier in their rehabilitation process in a gentle, safe, and controlled manner.
More Physical Therapy clinics are introducing Reformers into their practice because of the vast array of benefits it offers, including:
- Decreasing chronic low back pain
- Increasing flexibility
- Improving balance
- Decreasing pain and stress in joints for those with osteoarthritis
Pilates-Based Physical Therapy is a rehabilitation method that can be modified for all physical abilities, is suitable for people of all ages, and has been shown to be highly effective. Our in-house STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor has 3 years of experience exposing a variety of patients to the benefits of a Reformer.
